Twist is working with four community groups for the 2015-2016 cycle:

Mzansi Theatre Project Advancement
The group was established in 2009 and registered as an NPO in 2010.
They perform around the Pietermaritzburg area. The group have worked with the Kwa-Patha Place of Safety to produce shows for the centre.
They have also performed at the Hexagon Theatre in Pietermaritzburg with a show about the life and teachings of Steve Biko.

Ubizo Theatre Company

The group started in 2012 as an all-female group with 20 members. It has since reduced to five full-time members.
The group describe themselves as young, vibrant, passionate and ambitious.
They perform at community functions and schools in the Marianhill area.


Nansi Impumelelo Arts and Culture Initiative

This group is made up of young people from kwaNgwanase, from the far north of KwaZulu Natal.
The organisation is a registered NPO and was established on 2008, with the aim of developing creative readers, writers, motivators, actors, musicians and poets among youth in the area.
The group have trained more than 120 young artists from the area.


Thandimpilo Theatre Group
Thandimpilo are based in Peace Valley near Pietermaritzburg.
The group started in 2006 and work in all of the performing arts, but with a focus on theatre.
They have won a number of drama competitions, including the competitions at the Winston Churchill theatre in 2007 and 2009.
They feel that their biggest achievement is being selected to be part of Twist Projects
